With the upcoming release of Revell Germany’s new 1/32 Bf 109G kit now joining the nice kits that Hasegawa brought us earlier, this is a good time to grab some killer markings sets.

In case you haven’t seen Brett Green’s fascinating preview of the new Revell kit, check it out here. As with all Brett’s stuff, it’s well-written and illustrated. Amazing.

Foreign Bf 109G Gustavs #2. What beautiful birds! This set showcases three unusual and colorful Bf 109G-6s. First is Yellow 10 from the ANR (Italian co-belligerant air force) 1a Squadron at Ghedi in November 1944. Additionally unusual by having both Luftwaffe and ANR national insignia, the original Luftwaffe markings have been painted out by a gray Italian color, but repainted by the ANR resulting in the fuselage crosses being ‘thicker’ than normal. This aircraft has been depicted in some publications as having a tall-tail and tail wheel, but the photos clearly show a standard short tail. Next is V8+06 of 101/3 Puma Squadron, Royal Hungarian AF in the summer of 1944. Note that to reduce visibility the white areas of the fuselage cross and tail stripe have been grayed out. We do not know if the white stripes on the horizontal stabilizers received this overspray or not, but it is likely they did. The final machine is the very colorful V8+65 of 101/2 Puma Squadron, Royal Hungarian AF, at Veszprem in the summer of 1944. Unfortunately for those of you relying on the profile in the Squadron/Signal book ‘Hungarian Air Force’ …don’t. Most of the markings are incorrect and misplaced, and the style of the ’5′ is completely wrong. Original photos dictated the shape and placement for our decals and profile illustration.
